North Texas Food Bank – CSFP

Posted on August 16, 2019

On Saturday, August 10th, fifteen NSM Dallas employees volunteered at the North Texas Food Bank in Plano.  The NTFB is a hunger relief organization with a proven record of accomplishment who focuses on providing hungry neighbors with access to nutritious foods. Each day the NTFB, with our feeding network, provides access to more than 200,000 meals for hungry children, seniors and families across the thirteen counties we serve. Last year NTFB provided access to almost 77 million meals.

Throughout the year, we donate time calibrating scales for the North Texas Food Bank, and on Saturday we packed boxes for the Commodity Supplemental Feeding Program (CSFP).  These boxes are filled with shelf-stable food items and delivered monthly to about 8,000 senior citizens at senior housing  facilities and recreation centers that struggle with food insecurity.  On Saturday our group filled 336 boxes (which are approximately 28 lbs each), which filled up 8 pallets and equates to 7,980 meals for a total of 9,570 lbs of food! Thanks to all of our employees who volunteered at the North Texas Food Bank!
