Essential Services During “Shelter-in-Place” orders:
As more parts of the United States are beginning to order “shelter in place” requirements we are continuing to evaluate our plans to take care of our employees and customers in the best ways possible. Dallas County, TX has issued a shelter in place order starting this evening and they have ordered non-essential businesses to shut down. Nicol Scales & Measurement is deemed as an essential business because we provide critical services to our customers in industries defined by governmental orders as essential. We will continue to work hard to follow the CDC guidelines to service our customers appropriately during this crisis. See the attached “Essential Services Letter” for more information on this.
Flexible Service Offerings:
We know that we all need to work together to beat the COVID-19 Coronavirus. Therefore, we are offering some flexible service offerings to help follow CDC guidelines that encourage social distancing. If you need service, repair or calibration during this time but are concerned about person to person contact, we have a variety of options available, including:
- Pick-up and delivery service – Instead of repairing or calibrating your equipment in your facility we can arrange for a pick-up and delivery service. Tell our team when to pick up your equipment and leave it at a designated place on your loading dock. We will come get it, calibrate it, and bring it back to you. Once we drop it off we will call you to let you know its back.
- Flexible Scheduling – We can send a Technician to your facility after hours when less of your staff is there to do your repair or calibrations. In some cases, this can be done at regular rates as we are shifting our crews to work different hours depending upon demand.
- Staggering Equipment Cycles – If you have a large amount of equipment that requires calibration or repair that we normally service on-site we can stagger the pick-up and delivery of the items into lots so that you are never without the equipment that you use daily. For example, if you have 75 items that require calibration but you use them regularly we can pick them up in lots of 25 to calibrate them and pick up the second lot when we return the first lot.
- Video chat – We can offer “FaceTime” or similar video chat to help trouble shoot issues before we dispatch a Technician and to limit interaction.
Contact us to discuss ways that we can work together to limit interaction and follow CDC guidelines on social distancing while keeping your facility running smoothly.

Dear Valued Customers,
While we navigate these difficult times, we remain committed to our loyal and trusted customers. We wish to reassure our customers and the business community that we have undertaken a comprehensive plan to safeguard the health and well-being of our employees and business partners. The plan will work to minimize disruption of delivery of products and services needed to provide support to our customers.
We have been and will continue to closely monitor national regional, and local developments as it relates to COVID-19. We are proactively taking steps to prepare to ensure that our business model remains sound, as we follow guidelines recommended by governmental agencies. To that end, we have instituted resource management safeguards, adapting our essential work functions to protect our employees and customers. We are confident in the steps we have taken even as our plan continues to evolve as the situation develops in the coming weeks and months.
We are actively verifying the availability of products we supply and our ability to supply your needs today and in the future. We appreciate your continued support as we all work to minimize and to overcome the impact of the pandemic. We thank you in advance for your continued patronage as we successfully meet this challenge together.
On a personal note, my thoughts and prayers are with each of you, your families, and employees. I wish nothing but success and good health as we go forward.
Sincerely yours,
Ted Tobolka
